The American Transportation Research Institute is calling for motor carriers to contribute to its annual Operational Costs of Trucking report, now in its 12th year.

ATRI’s Operational Costs of Trucking assembles cost information derived directly from fleets and owner-operators, which is then used as a benchmarking tool by many motor carriers.

“We constantly strive to improve. In our quest for competitive excellence, one of our most valuable resources is ATRI’s annual report,” said Cari Baylor, president of Baylor Trucking. “ATRI provides us with the detail to understand how our operations and costs compare to our industry peers.”

The for-hire fleet metrics requested by ATRI include driver pay, fuel costs, insurance premiums, and lease/purchase payments. Respondents are asked to provide cost per mile and/or cost per hour data for all of 2019 by using an online data entry form.

For-hire motor carriers must provide responses by August 21, 2020. ATRI’s data collection form protects all confidential information and is available for download. Participants will receive an advance copy of the full report.
