The acquisition includes operating personnel, drivers, customers, and supplier relationships. The move is expected to help grow Bison’s intermodal service and improve its ability to support cross-border shippers in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
“Our intermodal business platform is approximately five times larger than it was five years ago,” said Brad Chase, Bison's vice president of logistics and multimodal. “This strategic move supports our corporate initiative for continued growth in our asset-light business platforms.”
Celadon Group has been under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission and recently agreed to pay $42.2 million in restitution for violations related to securities fraud. Celadon also recently sold off the assets of the Celadon Logistics arm of its business to TA Services, in a move that the company said would help it reduce debts and streamline business.
Bison Transport provides full truckload service, full-service logistics, intermodal, LTL, dedicated fleet operations, yard management, and warehousing and distribution services. The company has been recognized by the Truckload Carriers Association as North America’s Safest Fleet, winning the TCA Fleet Safety Award for large carriers 12 times, with nine consecutive wins.
