Col. David W. Sutherland, U.S. Army (Retired), will present “Lead from the Front," a keynote speech based on his vast military combat experience, during this year’s Heavy Duty Trucking Exchange, which will be held May 8-10, 2019, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
From his experience as one of the 13 Surge Brigade Commanders in Iraq in 2007, Sutherland will present an inspirational presentation about 21st century leadership. Based on four pillars of character, knowledge, pressure, and motivation, Sutherland’s address will include combat stories and examples of unconventional leadership in the trenches of war that offer lessons for organizations, employers, and employees.
HDTX is an annual intimate networking and educational event put on by Heavy Duty Trucking, featuring educational sessions such as the keynote speech and a panel discussion by HDT's Truck Fleet Innovators, plus one-on-one meetings between fleet executives and suppliers, and networking opportunities.
Sutherland currently is president of Sutherland Partnership and chairman of the Dixon Center for Military and Veterans Services. Following his 29 years of service in the Army, he now consults with corporations, not-for-profits and government entities on the topics of leadership and organizational culture.
