Isuzu Technical Center of America is notifying the owners of 25,209 diesel and gasoline trucks that the vehicles may be equipped with faulty Kidde handheld fire extinguishers in need of replacement, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.
This safety recall affects fire extinguishers in 2012-2016 model-year NPR, NPR-HD, NPR-XD, NQR and NRR diesel trucks manufactured from Nov. 24, 2011, to July 24, 2015, as well as in 2012-2015-MY NPR and NPR-HD gasoline-powered trucks manufactured from Oct. 5, 2011, to Aug. 27, 2015.
The Kidde plastic valve disposable handheld fire extinguishers (model FC10) might not discharge properly when the lever is pressed, according to NHTSA. As a result, dealers will replace them. There will be no charge for this service.
Truck owners can reach Isuzu customer service at (866) 441-9638.
