FMCSA Revokes Three ELDs, Removes From Registered List

Beginning November 3, motor carriers and drivers who continue to use the revoked electronic logging devices will be cited for operating without an ELD and enforcement officials will place the driver out-of-service.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration removed three devices from its list of registered electronic logging devices, or ELDs.

They were placed on the Revoked Devices list due to the companies’ failure to meet the minimum requirements for registered ELDs. Truck drivers and motor carriers must stop using them immediately, and replace them within 60 days.

The removals are effective September 4 for the following devices:

  • TT ELD PT30 Model Number: ARN752 ELD Identifier: CZGS10 ELD Provider: TT ELD Inc

  • ELOG42 Model Number: ERS ELD Identifier: ERS156 ELD Provider: Leko INC

  • RENAISSANCE ELD Model Number: RNSSNC ELD Identifier: RNS592 ELD Provider: RENAISSANCE ELD

FMCSA will send an industry-wide email to inform motor carriers that anyone using these revoked ELDs must take the following steps:

  1. Discontinue using the revoked ELDs and revert to paper logs or logging software to record required hours of service data.

  2. Replace the revoked ELDs with compliant ELDs from the Registered Devices list before November 3, 2025.

How Are Revoked ELDs Enforced?

Prior to November 3, FMCSA is encouraging safety officials not to cite drivers using these revoked ELDs for 395.8(a)(1) – “No record of duty status” or 395.22(a) – “Failing to use a registered ELD.” 

Instead, safety officials should request the driver’s paper logs, logging software, or use the ELD display as a backup method to review the hours-of-service data.

Beginning November 3, motor carriers and drivers who continue to use the revoked devices above will be considered as operating without an ELD and enforcement officials will place the driver out-of-service in accordance with the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance OOS Criteria.

What if an ELD Provider Brings a Revoked Device Up to Standard?

If the ELD provider corrects all identified deficiencies for its device, FMCSA will place the ELD back on the list of registered devices and inform the industry of the update.

However, FMCSA strongly encourages motor carriers to take the actions listed above now to avoid compliance issues. Only a handful of revoked electronic logging devices have been reinstated to the registered ELD list after being revoked.

Based on the FMCSA’s list of revoked devices, the agency has revoked more than 50 ELDs and removed them from the registered list since 2022, nearly 20 of them so far this year.
