Geotab announced it’s the first telematics company to certify its electronic logging device with Daimler Truck North America’s new factory-installed CTP3 (Connected Truck Platform) telematics hardware.

This integration simplifies fleet management by allowing customers with new CTP3-equipped trucks to use Geotab’s ELD for compliance without needing to install additional third-party hardware. The factory-installed hardware on the truck is all you need.

According to Geotab, this streamlines operations, reduces costs, and provides a unified data platform for mixed fleets.

“No two fleets are exactly alike, and managing a diverse range of vehicles can be a real challenge,” explained James McDermott, senior solution partnerships manager, in an article on Geotab’s website.

“It requires juggling different telematics systems, different data feeds, and different software platforms. This is exactly why our OEM partnerships are so critical. … For years, we've worked to ensure our OEM integrations are equivalent to what our GO device offers.”

Freightliner’s Latest Telematics Platform

Daimler Trucks North America rolled out the new CTP3 connected services platform with the fifth-generation Freightliner Cascadia.

In introducing the truck last year, Greg Treinen, vice president, on-highway-market development, said a big part of meeting the core design goals on the fifth-generation Cascadia was its new electrical system.

“This new electrical architecture is an enabler for a lot of the key features such as enhancements to Detroit Assurance Suite and safety systems, or whether it's the pairing with our new CTP3 connected services platform.”

"So, it's about faster processing speed, about core memory and delivering the data to our customers that they care about to make better business decisions for their fleet.”

Building on Existing Integration

This builds on Geotab’s existing integration with Daimler Truck North America, which it announced in 2024.

Fleet data from Freightliner trucks via DTNA’s data-as-a-service (DaaS) technology is displayed on Geotab’s fleet management software, MyGeotab. Managers can view mixed fleets as well as driver behavior information on one integrated platform. Insights on fuel consumption, driver behavior, vehicle tracking, and more are available.

Earlier this year, Geotab announced an expansion of that integration to vehicles equipped with Cummins powertrains.
