Adrienne Camire, named acting administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration earlier this month, appears to no longer be in that position.

Just days after FMCSA featured Camire in social media posts on Facebook and LinkedIn behind the wheel of a truck, her name and information has disappeared from the FMCSA website, including the news release that announced her new role.

The FMCSA leadership page, updated on March 17, previously had Camire at the top, but now shows Sue Lawless, Executive Director and Chief Safety Officer, and Jesse Elison, Chief Counsel.

So far, FMCSA has not shared any details about the change.

As we reported on March 7, Camire was named deputy administrator and acting administrator. She had previously served as chief counsel for the Federal Highway Administration during President Trump’s first term, and shortly after President Trump’s inauguration in January, she was named senior adviser to the administrator for FMCSA.

Five days ago, FMCSA's LinkedIn and Facebook accounts shared a visit from Camire to the Community College of Baltimore County Transportation Training Center in Baltimore, Maryland, where she got a little behind-the-wheel experience on the closed training course.

Camire apparently had jumped right in to learning more about trucking in her short stint heading FMCSA.

FMCSA Leadership

It's the latest in a revolving door of leadership at the agency.

  • Last June, Vinn White was named deputy administrator and acting administrator.

  • White replaced former Administrator Robin Hutcheson, who left FMCSA in January 2024 after two years.

  • Hutcheson replaced deputy administrator Meera Joshi, who was acting administrator and had been nominated to head the agency, in late 2021 after Joshi announced she was leaving the administration to accept a position as a deputy mayor of New York City.

  • Joshi was the third acting chief of FMCSA since Ray Martinez stepped down in 2019.
