More than 44,000 drivers and their families as well as local residents visited the Iowa 80 Truck Stop in Walcott, Iowa, during the 35th Anniversary Walcott Truckers Jamboree last week. Guests enjoyed over 175 exhibits; a Super Truck Beauty Contest, an antique truck display, an Iowa pork chop cookout, games and free concerts.


As part of an international media event showcasing Shell's new lubricants technology center in Shanghai, journalists got to visit a "truck park" in an industrial area outside the city where the Shell roadshow was being held.


Truck drivers don't always get credit for the good they do. This collection of photos is from a few of the Convoy events Equipment Editor Jim Park has attended over the years. It's easy to tell from the pictures that drivers put a lot into these fundraisers. But it's more than just raising money. It's a bunch of people that often work in isolation coming together for a cause and showing the underlying sense of community that exists among drivers -- and is rarely seen in public.


Wreaths Across America, along with nearly 30,000 volunteers, placed remembrance wreaths on the headstones of more than 143,000 veterans at Arlington National Cemetery on Dec. 14. This is the organization’s 22nd year laying wreaths at our Nation’s cemetery and marks the largest number ever delivered. Across the country, 540,000 remembrance wreaths were placed in honor of veterans at 908 locations (including Arlington).


There's a new winning lineup of Best of Show winners and runners-up in this year's Shell Rotella SuperRigs Contest, because the previously announced winner was found to not meet all the eligibility requirements for a working truck and trailer.


Equipment Editor Jim Park takes us on a tour of Volvo Trucks North America's New River Valley truck assembly plant in Dublin, Va. Shown are a few key steps in the assembly process, from welding the cab together to the finished product driving off the assembly line under its own power.


Prime Inc. is headquartered in Springfield, Mo., the “Show-Me State,” and President Robert E. Low says showing drivers genuine appreciation is the key to the company’s relatively low turnover rate and tremendous growth over the years.


Volvo made news at the 2013 Mid-America Trucking Show by making its automated I-Shift transmission standard on trucks with Volvo engines and by making good on its promise to go more aggressively after the vocational market with a new heavy-haul model, among other announcements.


Kenworth unveiled the versatile T880 at the Mid-America Trucking Show in March. It can be configured to do almost anything, from heavy-haul to a straight truck. It's the successor-in-waiting to the venerable T800 which has been in service for more than 20 years. Kenworth has no immediate plans to phase out the T800.


Unveiled at the 2013 Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky., Peterbilt's all-new vocational Model 567 is the result of extensive product research and development. Standard is a durable, new aluminum cab that went through rigorous testing at the Paccar Technical Center in Mount Vernon, Wash.
