The cost of diesel fuel has skyrocketed, averaging $5.160 as of April 25, squeezing the profits of trucking fleets across the nation. There’s not much fleets can do to lower the cost of fuel and how much fuel their vehicles require, but there’s plenty they can do to boost their fuel efficiency right now.

The webinar, “Fast Ways to Save Fuel,” slated for May 4, 1-2 p.m. Central Time, puts three trucking experts in the driver’s seat to examine tactics fleets and drivers can implement quickly to boost mpg or save money on purchasing. It is the first installment of three editorial webinars, which also include “Coaching and Incentivizing Drivers for Better MPG,” and “Dealing With Fuel Costs: Beyond MPG.”

The expert guest panelists in the first of this three-part series include:

  • Mike Roeth, executive director for North American Council for Freight Efficiency. He will kick off this webinar series with fast ways to improve fuel economy immediately without waiting for your next truck spec.

  • Gerry Mead, executive vice president of maintenance and equipment at Hub Group, who will build on this fast start by helping fleets better understand their operational characteristics to determine the fuel savings potential of add-on technologies that you can introduce into your fleet.

  • Joe Puff, vice president of truck technology and maintenance for NationaLease, who will cap off the event with a discussion on setting engine parameters to save fuel.

When diesel prices soar, it focuses fleet attention on saving money on fuel. But slashing fuel costs, whether it's through better fuel mileage or back-end fuel-buying management programs, can help a fleet's bottom line at any time.

Register now, and plan to attend live to jumpstart your journey to fuel savings.
