Trillium Joint Venture Opens Texas CNG Station

Amp Trillium, a joint venture between ampCNG and Trillium CNG, opened the first public access CNG station in Sweetwater, Texas, capable of accommodating all CNG vehicles including Class 8 trucks.

Amp Trillium, a joint venture between ampCNG and Trillium CNG, opened the first public access CNG station in Sweetwater, Texas, capable of accommodating all CNG vehicles, including Class 8 trucks.

It is the fourth of seven CNG stations opened as part of an agreement with the Dairy Farmers of America and Select Milk Producers to convert portions of their fleets to CNG. The station is located at 9404 S I-20 Frontage Rd. off of Interstate 20.

“We’re thrilled to announce the opening of the first CNG station in Sweetwater, the ideal location for serving the state’s enormous agricultural and oil field industries,” said Steve Josephs, co-founder of ampCNG. “The station expands our growing network in Texas and provides the numerous economic and environmental benefits to heavy trucking fleets switching from diesel to CNG.”

The new station is located on a route that many drivers heading west out of the Dallas Fort Worth area and south from Lubbock, Texas, regularly use. It will be capable of handling three Class 8 trucks fueling simultaneously and features Trillium’s proprietary fast-fill pumps.

“With about 8,500 tractor trailer rigs passing through on a daily basis, the station will play a huge role in keeping our West Texas air clean,” said Ken Becker, executive director of Sweetwater Enterprise for Economic Development.

Amp Trillium has plans to bring three more CNG stations to Texas within the next six months. The stations will be in Brock, Kerrville and Midland.
