The New York State Energy Research & Development Authority announced that Crosspoint Kinetics hybrid electric system qualifies for voucher funding.

Owners of private and non-profit, Class 3-8 bus and light truck fleets that operate in the New York City area can now get up to 80% of the system's cost reimbursed as part of an ongoing initiative to reduce noxious emissions in the region.

Six million dollars has been earmarked for the New York City Alternative Fuel Vehicle - Voucher Incentive Fund. This program of the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority, in partnership with the New York City Department of Transportation, the New York State Department of Transportation, and CalStart is the second such funding program in the New York Truck Voucher Incentive Program and the first to allow electric hybrids.

To qualify for up to $40,000 per truck, the vehicles must be converted to electric, hybrid electric or compressed natural gas and must spend at least 70% of their time operating in the five boroughs of New York City. Fleets are encouraged to submit a voucher request through an approved dealer such as Shepard Brothers, Alliance Bus or others.

The Kinetics Hybrid system quickly transforms Class 3-7 buses and trucks into more fuel-efficient and cleaner running vehicles. Fleets have reported up to 30% more miles per gallon and a comparable reduction in emissions when the hybrid is used in heavy start/stop duty cycles like those found in New York City.

As a "bolt-on" hybrid, it is engineered to be easy to install and easy to use, with minimal driver training and no extra steps for the driver to take. The Kinetics Hybrid has undergone rigorous testing through FTA/Altoona, CalStart, and Cummins. And, more than 6 million miles of field driving have further validated the design.
