After a four-day strike, Maine log truckers returned to work Friday after reaching an agreement with Irving Forest Products.
Although neither the company nor the truckers' spokesman would give specifics, according to the Associated Press, Irving agreed to increase hauling rates for truckers to compensate for high fuel prices and increase pay rates for loaders.
However, the deal does not answer all of the truckers' concerns, according to trucker spokesman Jim Foreman. He expects the owner-operators to try again for better pay and safety measures in the near future.
At the height of the protest Wednesday, about 40 truckers were participating in the protest.
