Star Transportation Buys Florida Fleet
Star Transportation Inc. of Nashville has acquired Camp Transportation based in Jacksonville, Florida.

Beth Franklin, CEO of Star Transportation, and Rick Camp, CEO of Camp Transportation, have reached an agreement for Star Transportation to purchase the assets of Camp Transportation and hire its current drivers. Franklin said, "Star Transportation's largest challenge is finding quality drivers who meet our standards; Camp Transportation brings approximately 50 superb drivers who will be assigned a Star tractor.
Rick Camp is staying with Star as the director of operations at the Jacksonville terminal and Camp family members are going to stay on with Star.
Jim Brower, president of Star Transportation, said, "As a positive for the Camp employees, we anticipate increased benefits by sharing in our established customer base, top of the line tractors, additional terminal facilities to participate in the freight into and out of the other company locations."
This is the second acquisition for Star Transportation. Growth strategy for the company includes targeting additional candidates to purchase. The first was Mississippi Fast Freight in 2002, which has been a profitable investment. Franklin said, "Star Transportation projects an immediate increase of 9% to 10% in revenue with goals to increase the revenue produced by these tractors by another 5% by year end."
