Scania Sales Not Affected by Volvo/EC Merger Battle

AB Volvo's well-publicized and sometimes bitter confrontation with the European Union over its purchase of Scania didn't seem to affect Scania truck sales this year.
The company delivered 2,000 trucks in January and February versus 1,999 during the same period last year. Sales to western Europe were down 4% while sales to central and eastern Europe rose 17%. Sales to Latin America dropped 14% but customers in Asia bought 76% more trucks.
Scania also sold 581 buses in January and February, up from 412 same period last year, and 383 industrial and marine engines, down from 397 last year.
The company said current order intake in western Europe is running higher than last year. The Latin American market remains soft but order intake in Asia continues to increase.
