Safety Wins Team Kicks off 2005 Season at Daytona International Speedway
The Safety Wins team invites professional drivers to attend free driver safety training at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona, Fla., on Wednesday, Feb. 16

A full day begins at 8 a.m. with classroom defensive driver education conducted by a certified National Safety Council trainer, a session on NASCAR safety by Busch Grand National series racecar driver Jimmy Kitchens, a track tour and tickets after training to watch NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series final practice, Craftsman Truck series practice and Busch Series practice. All Safety Wins events are at no charge. Lunch is on your own.
Safety Wins takes an innovative and positive reinforcement approach to awareness and education by holding safety training at NASCAR’s most exciting venues. The program is funded by a Susan Harwood Training grant through the U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Safety Wins is a cooperative project among the National Safety Council, The CEI Group/DriverCare, Cavalier Home Builders and NASCAR Busch racecar driver Jimmy Kitchens.
Safety Wins held its first session at the Daytona International Speedway in February 2004. To date, drivers from 129 of the nation’s leading organizations have successfully completed this unique educational program at NASCAR speedways. The goal of Safety Wins is to provide classroom education to professional drivers in order to influence a reduction in the leading cause of work-related death in the United States -- motor vehicle crashes.
