Responsible Cannabis Use will partner with CarriersEdge to provide commercial truck drivers with a cannabis e-learning course, CannEd. The partnership provides CarrierEdge’s Canadian clients access to the e-learning course at an exclusive price. A U.S.-based course will follow in the next few months, according to RCU.

Developed by RCU, a cannabis education company, the course prioritizes safety and responsibility by promoting cannabis education. CannEd allows drivers to better understand the various onset and the duration of effects for various cannabis products, provincial laws and penalties, impaired driving laws and how and when to disclose cannabis use to their manager. The course can be completed by drivers on a computer or mobile device.

While one section of the course focuses specifically on Canadian law pertaining to marijuana use, the remainder of the training is effective for all North American fleets.

In September 2019, RCU conducted a Canada-wide survey to understand Canadians’ knowledge of cannabis at work. The results showed that four in 10 people, managers and employees, do not know how long the effects of cannabis last.

In a legalized market, employers have a responsibility and a vested interest to educate their employees on cannabis in the workplace.
