The Missouri Motor Carrier’s Association recently selected William “Bill” Girdler of Pomona, Mo., as Missouri Driver of the Month for August 2006. Representatives from the Missouri State Highway Patrol,
the Missouri Office of Highway Safety and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration selected Girdler for this award after reviewing several nominees, whose names were submitted by their safety directors.
Safety plays a significant role for the judges in determining the best candidate. Girdler, who has driven over 4 million miles in his 25-year driving career, has an outstanding safety record. He is currently a contractor with Prime, Inc., and has received safe driving awards from Prime for each of the 14 years he has been with the Missouri-based carrier.
