The trucks will be delivered between 2023 and 2025.

Einride’s e-trucks are assembled to set specifications throughout the United States, according to the announcement. The initial batch of trucks are Class 8 8TT Gen 3 manufactured by BYD.

The trucks will be operated using Einride’s digital road freight operating system and charging solutions. This is the first large-scale use of the digital operating system, according to the companies. The freight mobility platform provides live insights on emissions, energy usage, location data, and more.

El Segundo, California-based Performance Team – A Maersk Company operates more 60 distribution and fulfillment center locations in North America. Last fall, Performance Team placed an order for 16 Volvo VNR Electric trucks.

Maersk Growth invested in Einride in 2021 to accelerate the decarbonization of trucking. The partnership is now accelerating these efforts with the North America order. Maersk’s long-term goal in North America is to move toward a fully electric trucking fleet.

“Our customers are looking for tangible actions on sustainable supply chains — not just conceptual,” said Vincent Clerc, CEO of Ocean & Logistics for A.P. Moller – Maersk. “Today’s order is an important step in building our end-to-end, landside decarbonization foundation while also addressing customers’ inland transportation pain points.”
