Ol’ Blue USA, a nonprofit public charity dedicated to educating the nation about highway safety, has posted a public service video provided by Michelin Americas Truck Tires, to the charity’s web site, www.olblueusa.org.
The video, called "The Critical Factor: Maintaining Control in a Rapid Air Loss Situation," teaches drivers how best to maintain control when a tire experiences rapid air loss.
About 10 minutes in length, the video explains how rapid air loss can influence the way a tractor-trailer behaves and how to compensate for any changes in handling. Copies of the video are also directly available from Michelin Americas Truck Tires and can be ordered by using the "Contact Us" form on the company’s web site at www.michelintruck.com.
During the National Safety Tour, Ol’ Blue, a 1951 working truck, pulls a 53-foot "rolling billboard" trailer featuring the charity’s sponsors, including Michelin, and those of the California Highway Patrol and the U.S. Department of Transportation.
In addition, Ol’ Blue, USA, conducts simulated truck inspections at trade shows and truckstops, and takes various programs to community events and public schools in an effort to teach safety around large vehicles.
