Maverick Transportation has recognized Lee Hammond of Norwalk, Ohio, as its 2006 Driver of the Year. An 11-year veteran with Maverick, Hammond was named Driver of the Year after a companywide vote

for nominees among the 12 Drivers of the Month for 2006.
Hammond has been presented with numerous safety awards, included a Million Mile Safe Driving Award. As Maverick’s October Driver of the Month for 2006, Hammond was recognized for her combination of safe driving, positive attitude and genuine driver professionalism. “It is drivers like Lee that define the professionalism in our industry,” said Maverick President and COO Stephen Selig.
Every month Maverick recognizes a driver from the company's fleet who takes pride in his profession and the company, employs safety, and maintains Maverick standards in all they do. As Driver of the Year, Hammond will receive an extra week of vacation time, a $2,500 bonus check, and a custom-made leather jacket.
