The Morning News of Springdale, Ark., reported that J.B. Hunt Transport Services has fired its accounting firm, KPMG, and hired competitor Ernst & Young.
The paper said the change was announced Monday in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The filing said J.B. Hunt did not disagree with KPMG "on any matters of accounting principle or practice, financial statement disclosure or auditing scope or procedure" that would cause KPMG to mention such matters in accounting reports from 2003 and 2004.
The SEC filing also said there were not any reportable events or other accounting irregularities that led J.B. Hunt to change accountants.
According to prior SEC filings, KPMG had been J.B. Hunt's accounting firm since 1982. The proxy also says KPMG representatives will attend the trucking firm's shareholders' meeting April 21 in Lowell to answer questions or make a statement.
