J.B. Hunt Founder to be Inducted Into Supply Chain Hall of Fame
J.B. Hunt Transport Services founder Johnnie Bryan Hunt will be inducted into the inaugural class of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals’ Hall of Fame.

J.B. Hunt Transport Services founder Johnnie Bryan Hunt will be inducted into the inaugural class of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals’ Hall of Fame.
Hunt will be inducted alongside Henry Ford, founder of Ford Motor Co., and Malcom McLean who is known for inventing the shipping container. The Supply Chain Hall of Fame was created to pay tribute to those who have made revolutionary contributions to the supply chain world.
Hunt, who died in 2007, was chosen as an inductee because of his pioneering role in intermodal transportation. J.B. Hunt was one the first trucking companies to move loads by rail through the company’s partnership with the former Santa Fe Railway – a significant innovation in intermodal.
Since 1989, the company has grown from a small intermodal operation with a few hundred containers to owning the largest fleet of 53-foot containers in the world, according to J.B. Hunt.
Johnelle Hunt, wife of the late inductee, will accept the award on her husband’s behalf during CSCMP’s global conference in Orlando, Fla., in September.
