The Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association is hosting a virtual version of its Heavy Duty Dialogue, focusing on advanced vehicle technologies and electric vehicles, along with a session on the economy.

HDMA, the commercial vehicle division of the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association, will host Heavy Duty Dialogue (HDD), a completely virtual event, on Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 10 a.m- 3 p.m. EDT. HDD is a business conference developed for executives in the global and domestic commercial vehicle industry.

One of the highlights of the virtual event is a technology panel discussion moderated by MEMA Chief Technology Officer Brian Daugherty. “The Electric Vehicle & Advanced Technology Roadmap” will feature Robert Brown, head of government and public affairs at autonomous truck technology company TuSimple; Kevin Grove, research associate, Center for Truck and Bus Safety, Virginia Tech Transportation Institute; and Richard Beyer, vice president, engineering and R&D, Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems. The panelists will discuss the diverse viewpoints on the pace and progress of advanced vehicle technologies and their adoption in the industry, including:

  • Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and the roadmap to L1, L2, L2+, and L4 automated systems

  • Commercial Vehicle Electrification

  • Connectivity

  • Cybersecurity

  • eMobility

Another speaker is Jeffrey Rosensweig, director, John Robson Program in Business, Public Policy, and Government, Goziueta Business School of Emory University. In his session “A Global Economic Outlook,” he will give an overview of the global macro-economic trends that will impact the commercial vehicle industry. He will also provide insights into the current business environment, as well as the short- and long-term prospects for the U.S. economy.

Rosensweig specializes in global strategy, global economics, and international finance and has published several papers in academic journals. Prior to joining Emory, he was senior international economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.Rosensweig was recently selected by The Wall Street Journal as one of the top 12 professors in Executive MBA programs worldwide. A frequent economic commentator for CNN, Rosensweig is also often quoted in ForbesFortune, and BusinessWeek.
