GSO, a West Coast-based regional parcel delivery and less-than-truckload carrier, has appointed Randy Swart president.

Swart had been at New England-based regional LTL A. Duie Pyle for 10 years, and before that worked at UPS and Overnite Transportation before it was purchased by UPS. He was named one of Heavy Duty Trucking magazine's Truck Fleet Innovators for 2017.

At GSO, Swart will work with senior management to improve the efficiency of the company’s network, and position the company for future growth as it transitions to the GLS Brand.

GSO is a wholly owned subsidiary of GLS U.S. Holding Company. General Logistics Systems (GLS), a global parcel service provider based in Europe, bought GSO in 2016. Swart will report to Ivan Hofmann, CEO of GLS U.S.

With the acquisition of GSO in 2016 and Postal Express in 2017, the GLS Group is now represented in seven U.S. states, providing next-day delivery in eight western states.

"As we focus on our strategic transition to the GLS U.S. brand, I look forward to working with GSO /GLS management teams to improve operating processes by building upon the expertise of both companies, so that we may provide an enhanced delivery experience for our customers,” said Swart.
