Great Dane Flatbed Trailer Offers Light Weight and Strength
Freedom Ultra is designed for a wide range of open-deck applications, including building materials, lumber, machinery, steel products, industrial freight, and coil hauling.

A bolted-on RIG30-compliant rear impact guard is standard on the Ultra.

Great Dane has added a new, lighter weight all-aluminum trailer to its Freedom flatbed offerings. Freedom Ultra was designed to increase payload capacity while also offering strength and durability.
Freedom Ultra supports:
- Concentrated loads from 60,000 to 72,000 pounds in a 4-foot span
- Uniformly distributed loads (UDL) from 87,000 to 106,000 pounds
- Demanding applications that require maximum performance and reliability

The Freedom Ultra can be configured to order for each fleet’s operations, with bulkhead options, coil packages, securement systems, flooring options, and axle configurations.

Key Features of Great Dane's Freedom Ultra Trailer Include:
- Strength-to-weight efficiency: Ultra offers one of the highest concentrated load-to-tare weight ratio in its class, according to Great Dane.
- Welded main beam design: Great Dane said this offers 50% more rigidity than comparable products on the market, for better reliability and stability. It’s backed by a 10-year main beam warranty.
- Safety: The Freedom Ultra features a bolted-on RIG30-compliant rear impact guard as standard that exceeds U.S. and Canadian safety standards. RIG30 passed the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s tests for underride crashes of a midsize car in all three test modes: full-width, 50% overlap and 30% overlap.
- Integrated J-Hook floor system: Fully boxed floorboards eliminate the need for floor screws. Optional J-hook tracks are built directly into the welded aluminum floor, offering flexible load securement options.
- Full-height structural bulkheads: Full-height mid-span and suspension bulkheads help deliver consistent structural strength without outriggers, Great Dane said. It also creates space for longer dunnage storage.
- Corrosion protection: The upper coupler, suspension brackets, and rear impact guard feature HDGV (hot-dipped galvanized) protection to help resist corrosion and extend component life.
- Integrated FleetPulse telematics: Access to real-time trailer visibility across operations, asset tracking and recovery capabilities, and optimized routing.

Hot-dipped galvanized components help resist corrosion and extend component life.
