FedEx Express has expanded two of its global hubs, one at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris and the other at Guadalajara International Airport in Jalisco, Mexico.
"As an economic recovery begins to take hold around the world, FedEx is well-positioned to connect our customers to opportunities in the global marketplace," said Michael Ducker, president, international, FedEx Express.
The company's European hub at Charles de Gaulle now employs 2,600 people. The expansion involves total floor space of 828,821 square feet, increased sort area to 775,001 square feet, and improved sort capacity to 61,500 documents and packages per hour.
The improved Mexico facility features an additional 42,054 square feet, a reduction in shipment processing time by up to 40 percent, and 83 percent more storage space. In addition, sorting capacity is now 4,000 packages per hour.
