Federal-Mogul has announced plans to keep and aggressively develop its Champion glow plug business in Europe.
The company said it has been assessing the future of the glow plug business.
"After a thorough review of this business, we have determined that Champion glow plugs are strategically important to our growth strategy, particularly our efforts to continue providing world-class components for diesel engines and supporting light-vehicle diesel engine use in Europe and North America," said Joseph Felicelli, Federal-Mogul's senior vice president of worldwide aftermarket operations. A strong glow plug business will help support Federal-Mogul's leading position as a supplier of powertrain components for diesel engines, he added.
"We believe glow plugs are an important part of our broad Champion product line that has a reputation for quality and value with our customers," Felicelli said.
Federal-Mogul manufactures Champion glow plugs at a plant in Carpi, Italy, which serves both OE manufacturers and aftermarket customers. The plant has about 250 employees.
