Sept. 22 — Talks between European trucker unions and management broke down Friday, reports the Associated Press. The 15-nation European Union hoped both sides would come to an agreement limiting average working hours for truck drivers to 45 hours a week. Current legislation limits the time drivers spend behind the wheel, but does not include time spent loading or unloading, cleaning and maintaining the trucks or other such duties.
New talks will be held Sept. 30.
