The Environmental Protection Agency has $2 million for rebates to encourage emissions retrofitting on diesel construction engines.

The rebates are being offered as part of an ongoing EPA program, the Diesel Emission Reduction Act, that has awarded more than $500 million in retrofit support over the past five years.
“These rebates will help equipment owners protect public health and improve air quality near construction sites while updating their fleets,” said Janet McCabe, acting assistant administrator for EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation.
The agency is encouraging construction equipment owners in counties that don’t meet air quality standards to apply for the rebates. It will be accepting applications through January 15, 2014 and anticipates awarding the rebates in February 2014.
