An area of East St. Louis is likely to see major delays for drivers this week on I-64 and I-55/70 due to the level of road construction, according to the Mid-West Truckers Association.

An area of East St. Louis is likely to see major delays for drivers due to the level of road construction, according to the Mid-West Truckers Association.

Lane restrictions for the week of Sept. 10-13, weather permitting, include:

Tuesday, Sept. 10

  • I-64 westbound, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., reduced to one lane from 18th Street to 9th Street. Significant delays are expected. Drivers are encouraged to utilize alternate routes during this period.

  • I-55/70 eastbound, 7 p.m. - 3:30 a.m., left lane closures from the I-55/70/64 split to IL 203, includes intermittent 15 minute road closures.

  • MLK Bridge on-ramp to eastbound I-55/70, 7 p.m. - 3:30 a.m. closed. The on-ramp to eastbound I-64 will remain open.

Wednesday Sept. 11

  • I-64 westbound, 7 p.m.-3:30 a.m., lane closures from 18th Street to 9th Street, includes intermittent 15 minute road closures.

  • I-55/70 eastbound, 7 p.m.-3:30 a.m., will be reduced to one lane from I-55/70/64 split to IL 203.

  • MLK Bridge on-ramp to eastbound I-55/70, 7 p.m.-3:30 a.m., closed. The on-ramp to eastbound I-64 will remain open.

Thursday, Sept. 12
I-55/70 westbound, 7 p.m. - 3:30 a.m., will be reduced to one lane from IL 203 to the I-55/70/64 merge, includes intermittent 15 minute road closures.
 
Friday, September 13
I-64 eastbound, closed from the I-55/70/64 split to 18th Street, beginning at 9 p.m. and will reopen Monday, Sept. 23 at 9 a.m. Traffic will use the following marked detour: eastbound I-55/70 to southbound I-255. No eastbound I-64 traffic will be allowed east of the I-55/70/64 split. Please consider alternate routes, modified work schedules, or others modes of transportation during this closure period.
