Clean Energy has opened for new compressed natural gas fueling stations: two in downtown Chicago, one at Las Vegas/McCarran Intl. Airport, and one at Austin-Bergstrom Intl. Airport.

The Chicago stations are part of a planned Chicagoland network. The new stations will support growing fleets of taxis, paratransit vehicles, service vans, refuse trucks and shuttle buses powered by domestic natural gas.

Chicago's Taxi Medallion Management, which operates over 800 vehicles in Chicago, entered into two 15-year contracts with Clean Energy to build and operate the two fueling stations, and to supply fuel to the initial TMM CNG fleet of up to 100 vehicles.

The City of Chicago's Department of Environment has implemented a Green Taxi program, enabling Chicago cab companies to receive from $9,000 to $14,000 for purchasing a CNG car. The program continues until December 31, 2011.

The Las Vegas/McCarran international Airport facility is Clean Energy's seventh public access CNG station in the area, making Las Vegas among the first cities in America with the fueling station infrastructure in place to support expanded deployment of natural gas vehicle fleets.

Bell Transportation will fuel its new fleet of CNG ground transport vehicles, initially ten Transit Connect taxis and eight shuttle buses, at the Las Vegas station.

The new Clean Energy CNG fueling station at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is expanding clean fueling opportunities for the airport and the central Texas region.

The station, which opened in July, is located at 3100 ½ Spirit of Texas Drive and will be open 24/7 for public access. Airport parking shuttles, which have used propane since the airport opened in 1999, are now converting to CNG to take advantage of the lower price of natural gas at the pump. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport served 8.7 million passengers in 2010.
