C.H. Robinson Worldwide has acquired International Trade & Commerce, a U.S. customs brokerage company
, in an effort to strengthen its cross-border capabilities.
ITC provides international customs brokerage to customers primarily in the U.S. and Mexico, within all modes of transportation. The company was founded in 1989 by Hector Tafoya, who has been named C.H. Robinson's general director of the U.S. and Mexico Border Operations Center.
"ITC strengthens our ability to provide customers a seamless cross-border service package across the United States and Mexico border," said Scott Satterlee, C.H. Robinson senior vice president. "Customers increasingly want a single point of contact to provide visibility and consolidated invoicing in order to achieve optimal efficiency with their transportation spend."
C.H. Robinson will use ITC's 55,000-square foot warehouse and distribution center in Laredo, Texas. C.H. Robinson has 10 offices along the U.S. and Mexico border with over 100 employees dedicated to those local markets. Offices in Mexico include Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Nuevo Laredo.
"Customers are looking for a global provider to deliver comprehensive strategic solutions that decrease transit time and risk while increasing reliability, security, and legal compliance," Tafoya said.
