Thomas Lindsey was indicted by the U.S. District Court in Greenville, S.C., on charges of false statements made related to unauthorized CDL testing, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced.
The state of South Carolina approved Lindsey as a third-party tester in order to test employees of the North Spartanburg Fire Department. However, while there, he allegedly administered tests to drivers who were not employed by the NSFD.
The indictment also alleges that Lindsey did not require all drivers to perform pre-trip inspections, basic controls or road tests, and used unapproved locations to conduct testing. He is also accused of telling drivers to deliver fraudulently completed test forms at S.C. DMV locations.
The investigation is being conducted by the DOT, the Federal Motor Carrier Administration and the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles, Office of Inspector General.
