Blue Bird Corp. has introduced the Blue Bird Vision school bus with improved line of sight
and specially designed safety features, including Michelin XZE tires.
The Michelin XZE tire is an all-position radial truck tire with extra-wide, extra-deep tread designed to deliver the durability and scrub resistance needed for bus service. The XZE has features that include strong shoulders that resist chipping and tearing; full-depth sipes that supply all-wheel position traction throughout the life of the tire; groove walls that help prevent stone retention and extend casing life and retreadability; extra strong curb guards that help protect sidewalls against most impacts and abrasions to extend casing life; and groove bottom protection built for enhanced defense against stone drilling.
The new Vision school bus meets and exceeds all Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) requirements for school buses. One of the safety features is a Safety View vision panel with a Fresnel lens in the cowl location forward of the entrance door. The Safety View panel dramatically increases the driver's view in this critical safety area.
Other Vision safety features include: wide, double full-view, outward-opening entrance door with clear-tempered glass; three-step non-skid step well; large rear emergency door opening; right-hand and left-hand outside mirrors; non-skid, ribbed rubber aisle floor covering; 3M reflective tape at emergency exits; daytime running lights; elliptical; four-wheel anti-lock brakes and fender-mounted cross view mirrors.
