The Anchorage Daily News reported that a tanker truck was lifted eight to nine feet and swept off the Parks Highway north of Cantwell, Alaska, near Denali National Park.

The paper reported that the avalanche came off Panorama Mountain at about 6 a.m. Friday and hit the highway at Mile 217.5.
The avalanche was about 1,000 feet wide and eight feet deep, said Department of Transportation spokeswoman Shannon McCarthy.
"It was a pretty significant slide," McCarthy said. "It wasn't just snow, there was a lot of trees and rocks in it too."
The unidentified truck driver had just slowed to give a car kicking up snow more room when the avalanche swept across the road, taking the truck with it. The driver was not hurt in the incident.
By noon, DOT workers had cleared a hole to open one lane, the paper said.
