National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is the week of Sept. 13-19, honoring drivers for their hard work and commitment.

Fleets and shippers are encouraged to honor their drivers for their work during the week. National Truck Driver Appreciation week was started by American Trucking Associations in 1988.

Carriers, shippers and other trucking related businesses and associations routinely celebrate NTDAW with driver award ceremonies, company cookouts, bonuses, and other gifts to show appreciation for the 3.4 million drivers who serve the industry.

Trucking Moves America Forward, the industry-wide image and education movement, has launched an advertising campaign targeted to consumers in celebration of the week. The campaign aims to demonstrate that professional truck drivers are friends, family and neighbors. Print advertisements will appear in daily newspapers in major markets throughout the country, including Sacramento, Billings, Omaha, Houston, Dayton, Nashville, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Orlando.
