Schneider Logistics, Green Bay, Wis., was recognized for its exceptional service with the ArvinMeritor 2007 Supplier Diversity Tier 1 Supplier of the Year Award.
With this award, ArvinMeritor lauds Schneider's critical assistance in signing on carriers from a variety of ethnic backgrounds to meet the company's minority spend goals.

"When it comes to supplier diversity, ArvinMeritor has set aggressive targets for ongoing investments with minority suppliers," said Vernon Baker, senior vice president and general counsel overseeing ArvinMeritor's supplier diversity program.

To allocate more business to minority carriers, Schneider initiated a major transportation and logistics bid package on behalf of its customer. As a result, Schneider enlisted 10 minority carriers and surpassed ArvinMeritor's diversity spending goal by nearly 75 percent.

"We're seeing a definite trend with customers tying their corporate objectives more closely to their transportation and logistics spend," said Bill Miller, vice president of supply chain management. "From sustainability to diversity, shippers are demanding that the carriers who haul their freight share their passion for social responsibility."
