Wright Express will launch "Octane," a free mobile app that includes a fuel site locator with up-to-date transaction-based fuel prices and text-to-speech capabilities.

"Octane," available for both iPhone and Android phones, accesses the most currently available date- and time-stamped transaction data to help users find the lowest nearby fuel prices. Also, it uses text-to-speech technology for hands-free operation so the user focus on driving while listening to audio directions to their selected fueling site.

The app includes the ability to locate sites with alternative fuels, such as diesel, 85% ethanol fuel and compressed natural gas. Users can also save search criteria. In times of emergency such as severe weather or power outages, the app can find the nearest site where fuel is still available by filtering results with the 24-hour transaction toggle.
