SkyBitz Rolls Out New Asset Management System
SkyBitz has rolled out a new asset management solution based on its patented Global Locating System technology

Compared to GPS-based tracking devices, SkyBitz's new GLS-based system is meant to extend the service life.
The SkyBitz GLS400 Mobile Terminal provides machine-to-machine asset tracking and visibility for markets that rely on heavy equipment or remote assets.
The device's electrical design is meant to boost power efficiency and extend the service life beyond that of GPS-based tracking devices. Powered by eight "AA" lithium batteries, the GLS 400 allows for easy battery replacement and ease of maintenance. In addition, the new terminal is made of weatherproof Lexan polycarbonate, which has been used in the space helmets worn on the moon by astronauts as well as in stock-car windshields and helmets worn by NASCAR drivers.
"SkyBitz understands the unique business requirements of remote asset management our customers need," said Homaira Akbari, SkyBitz president and CEO. "The release of the SkyBitz GLS400 Mobile Terminal underscores our commitment to developing and delivering solutions that enable customers to effectively reduce their capital expenditures and increase their asset utilization."
According to SkyBitz, the GLS-based system provides the same benefits of GPS wireless tracking solutions, without the high-power consumptions of on-board calculations. The SkyBitz Service Operation Center performs positioning calculations centrally and is able to calculate position in seconds, reducing power consumption and the cost and inconvenience associated with frequent battery replacement. The SkyBitz InSight Web application requires no complex integration or software installation, has 50 separate standard reports and custom reporting features, as well as an adaptable application program interface (API) that can accept data feeds from any other system.
