IPD Releases New One-Piece Steel Pistons For Cat Engines
IPD has released new one-piece steel pistons for the Caterpillar 3500 engines with design enhancements thanks to IPD's patent pending one-piece oil gallery retention plate

The new piston design is one of the many scheduled releases of the IPDSteel piston line for Caterpillar as well as for other additional engine lines.
The new design limits plate movement and secures the oil gallery retention plate firmly in place.
These new pistons will also be built with IPD's patent pending technology for manufacturing one-piece steel pistons from a high strength alloy and heat treated steel casting, a process introduced into their product line in 2003. This is one of the many scheduled releases of the IPDSteel piston line for Caterpillar as well as for other additional engine lines.
"This unique and original design can eliminate incidences where the plates can work themselves loose- preventing catastrophic damage," said Steve Scott, director of product development, IPD.
"The evolution in diesel piston design from the traditional aluminum pistons to steel pistons played an influential role in IPD dedicating resources for this new product offering," said Bob Straw, vice president of sales and marketing, IPD. "Steel piston technology has been widely recognized to promote significant gains in performance and durability."
In addition, IPD has increased their production capacity to support the new 3500 series steel pistons out of growing customer demand. These products will be produced at IPD's manufacturing plant in Torrance, Calif.
