Gliders are new cabs and chassis that need powertrain components and accessories, which the company says it can provide based on its own glider assembly experience.

Packages include factory re-man'd engines and transmissions from Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit, Eaton and Allison, all backed by the suppliers' warranties.

Also available from Kustom are the starter, alternator, belt tensioner, idlers and fan hub and associated bracketry for the engine, plus shift lever components, the clutch linkage kit or the vehicle speed sensor for the transmission.

Kustom also can supply the main driveline, carrier bearing and U-joints, along with batteries, cables and other electrical parts. Most of these items are not supplied with a basic glider kit, the company says.

Currently, Freightliner and Western Star gliders are available from Daimler Trucks North America, and Peterbilt offers certain glider models. What's included with a glider varies, Kustom says. Its experts can answer questions regarding compatibility of the drive train and the desired chassis.

"Once the customer receives the package from Kustom Products, the engine and transmission are ready to drop into the chassis and the interface parts make for a true plug and play installation," the company's statement says.

Kustom Products says it is ISO 9001:2008 certified and has more than 15 years of experience and over 200 gliders kits built. More info: www.kustom-products.com.
