CRST Van Expedited recently celebrated the opening of its new $5 million, 40,000-square-foot headquarters at 1332 Edgewood Road SW in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
"This is a huge milestone in CRST International's history," said John Smith, president and CEO of CRST International. "The freight transportation industry is a tough one, and many competitors close their doors each year. We've been around for 49 years, and we are still going strong."
CRST International is the parent company of CRST Van Expedited, CRST Malone, CRST Logistics and CRST MAX (Major Airport Xpress).
CRST Van Expedited was housed in CRST International's headquarters, a quarter of a mile from its new building, until its move in January 2004.
In 1985, CRST Van Expedited launched its team driver operation to fill a niche in a competitive marketplace. By 2003, the company had grown into one of the largest team operations in the country, with a fleet of 1,500 trucks and 2,900 professional drivers.
