BlackBerry Limited has partnered with commercial transportation insurance solutions provider DMC Insurance to use vehicle data to help trucking companies improve operations, increase safety, and manage the cost of risk.

As part of the agreement, the companies will develop insurance-based products and services using real-time data from BlackBerry’s Radar asset tracking solution, such as vehicle location, route and mileage, temperature, humidity, door status, and cargo load state.

“Our partnership with DMC reinforces the value BlackBerry Radar brings to the transportation market,” said Sandeep Chennakeshu, president, BlackBerry Technology Solutions. “By being able to access valuable, near real-time information, motor carriers can optimize their costs of risk and improve their return on investment.”

BlackBerry Radar is a GPS asset tracking solution that can be quickly installed on equipment and provide information about the asset to an online dashboard. Radar users can use information collected by the solution to help improve security, safety, and regulatory compliance. Data is also securely stored  by BlackBerry to maintain the privacy of user information.
