A bridge collapse in Southeastern California has forced the closure of Interstate 10 near the state border for an indefinite period of time, according to a report in the Desert Sun.

The bridge crosses a wash in the Coachella Valley and collapsed during severe weather that hit the region on Sunday. Because of the collapse, interstate 10 has been shut down and drivers traveling between California and Arizona will have to find alternate routes.

Drivers going westbound from Arizona toward California will be detoured to State Route 95 south to Interstate 8. California is experiencing an unusually wet July with the most recent storm causing flash floods and power outages across the region.

A man was injured during the collapse and sustained moderate injuries.
