Northstar Services and J&E Transportation Services announce the merger of their two companies, effective Jan. 31.
Northstar Services LTD is an asset-based carrier, which offers trucking and drayage, and J&E Transportation Servicesprovides brokerage and warehousing.
The key operational value of Northstar Services: terminals located in the ports of New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Miami; local, regional, and over-the-road trucking service; domestic and international intermodal containers; bonded carrier status; owned fleet of chassis; 20-foot, 40-foot, and tri-axle units; combined fleet of owner-operator and company-owned trucks with onboard Teletrac units; DOT HAZMAT certification; and TWIC compliant.
The key operational value of J&E Transportation Services: fully-integrated logistics service, including domestic warehousing and distribution; specialized handling service, including blanket wrap, palletizing, pick and pack, and cross-docking; truckload, van, flatbed, refrigerated and protected services; intermodal and rail service; coverage in 48 states, Canada and Mexico.
The intermodal container business has allowed many companies to shift longer-haul freight to rails in the face of tight capacity and a driver shortage. But in recent years, Schneider and a handful of other companies have turned that same concept to the liquid bulk business.
