Fleetmatics has upgraded its Reveal fleet management service with improvements to hours of service logging.
The new feature, which Fleetmatics calls Logbook, allows fleet-based businesses to remove the manual step from hours of service processing.
“The impending switch to electronic hours of service logging has some businesses and drivers concerned about the time and effort involved in changing manual business practices that have been in place for years,” said Jonathan Durkee, vice president of product management at Fleetmatics. “We kept these concerns in mind when developing Logbook.”
Fleetmatics says Logbook will help businesses remain compliant with FMCSA regulations in an easy to learn manner.
Logbook tracks hours of service through vehicle information coming from the engine and communicating with the Fleetmatics driver log mobile application. This allows managers to track the hours of service for any driver in real time, even when drivers are away from the vehicle.
According to Fleetmatics, Logbook helps drivers prove they are working safely and in compliance with hours of service laws, and helps prevent violations with proactive driver alerts that immediately notify drivers if they are over hours.
Beyond compliance assistance, says Fleetmatics, Reveal still provides full fleet tracking, business intelligence and safety management tools in order to improve customer service and reduce expenses.
