Cummins says its 2013 engine lineup includes the clean diesel ISX12 and ISL9, as well as the Cummins Westport ISX12 G natural gas engine. They are ideal for vocational applications and are thus on display this week at the World of Concrete show in Las Vegas.

2013 on-highway diesels will offer customers up to 2% better fuel economy over the 2012-model engines, the company says. Proven components include an XPI fuel system, variable geometry turbocharger, and exhaust aftertreatment equipment, all co-ordinated by a single engine control module; these improve combustion efficiency, performance and reliability with no major hardware changes.

The ISX12 for ’13 has ratings from 310 to 425 horsepower and over 800 pounds-feet of clutch engagement torque.

The ISL9 and ISX12 are certified to the 2013 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulations meeting the greenhouse gas and fuel efficiency rules that take effect in 2014.

The ISX12 for ’13 has ratings from 310 to 425 horsepower and over 800 pounds-feet of clutch engagement torque. SmartTorque ratings deliver an additional 200 pounds-feet of torque in the top two gears, and vocational ratings provide additional torque in the lower gears. Options include front- and rear-mounted power take-off drives.

The ’13-model ISL9 continues to use heavy-duty features like replaceable wet liners, roller followers, by-pass oil filtration and targeted piston cooling, Cummins says. ISL9 ratings range from 260 to 380 horsepower for the highest power density of any engine in its class.

Cummins Westport natural gas-fueled ISL G and ISX12 G use the same base engine and key components as their diesel counterparts. They employ a proprietary spark-ignition combustion system with Stoichiometric cooled exhaust gas recirculation and a maintenance-free three-way catalyst. The ISL G is certified to the 2013 EPA standards and is available with ratings from 250 to 320 horsepower.

The Cummins Westport ISX12-G has been eagerly awaited by many fleets interested in using natural gas fuel.

Cummins Westport's ISX12 G is based on Cummins ISX12 diesel and will offer ratings from 320 hp to 400 horsepower and up to 1,450 pounds-feet of torque. An engine brake is optional, and the 12 G can be mated to manual as well as automatic transmissions. The ISX12 G will be EPA 2013 certified when available in limited production in April.

Both the ISX12 G and the ISL G operate on compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas or biomethane, making them the natural choice for vocational natural gas applications.
