YRC Making Plea to Teamsters Via Video

Separate videos feature James Welch, chief executive officer of the company and president of national operation YRC Freight, and the presidents of YRC Worldwide’s three regional trucking companies, according to the Kansas City Star newspaper.
Welch’s video has also been posted online.
The move comes as YRC is seeking to extend the current labor pact with its approximately 26,000 Teamsters member workers, saying it has $1.4 billion in debt and is seeking to refinance it with lenders, who are insisting the contract, in which the Teamsters made several concessions, continues.
According to the dissident group, Teamsters for a Democratic Union, no specific demands have been made by either side and that YRC is not asking for additional wage or benefit concessions, but wants more “flexibility.”
