In honor of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, the Trump Administration praised the dedication of America’s truck drivers, thanking drivers for the hard work they do every day.
National Truck Driver Appreciation Week spans Sept. 9-15 and in a statement the White House recognized the efforts of truck drivers to keep goods moving across the country.
The White House called attention to the role that a truck driver plays in delivering essential cargo such as food, medicine and clothing. The Administration also expressed thanks for the work that truck drivers do during natural disasters to bring aid and supplies to those in need. These sentiments were echoed by U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, who wrote on the Department of Transportation's blog that with Hurricane Florence threatening the East Coast, millions of people will be grateful to truck drivers for braving adverse conditions to bring in needed supplies.
“My Administration remains committed to supporting these men and women by working with Congress to increase investment in America’s infrastructure and by reducing burdensome and unnecessary regulations on the trucking industry,” read a statement from President Trump. “We must ensure that our country’s truckers can keep fueling our thriving economy.”
