When truckers are on the road they must eat, and often the easiest place to grab nourishment is at a truck stop. Trucker Path surveyed its community of truck drivers about their food purchasing habits at truck stops and found that when drivers stop at a truck stop for food, the most sought-after meal is a hot breakfast.
Nearly 300 drivers participated in the survey, which asked three questions.
When you purchase food at a truck stop, which generally describes where you will consume your purchase?

Most reported they chose to dine on-site at the truck stop.
41.4% said they usually eat at the truck stop restaurant
35.2% said they usually get freshly prepared food from the truck stop and eat on the road
23.4% said they usually shop for groceries at the truck stop and then later consume the items purchased while on the road.
When you eat at the truck stop or buy premade food to go, what type of food are you generally looking for?
The respondents were asked to pick their top three choices from a list of 17 options, and hot breakfast was the number one choice. Top five responses, in order, were:
53.9% — Hot breakfast
30.9% — Hamburger/hot dog
26.5% — Sandwich
25.9% — Mexican food
25% —Healthy food
When you buy groceries at a truck stop, what type of foods do you primarily buy?
Again, the survey respondents were given 17 food categories and asked to select three. The top five answers were:
66.7% —Beverages
38.9% —Fruits
37% —Vegetables
31.5% — Healthy food
